Explanation of Services

Nurse Patient Advocate

Providing coaching, companionship or general medical interpretive services for patients undergoing surgery or other medical procedures. I have 12 years eperience as an operating room nurse in hospital and outpatient settings. My experience as a perioperative nurse includes all areas of surgeries from pre-op, circulating within the operating room, assisting the surgeon during surgery, and post anesthesia care.  I am well qualified to walk you through the process of undergoing surgical procedures and the immediate recovery.

I am also a cancer survivor and understand how difficult it is to navigate the diagnosis, surgeries and other treatments involved in the cancer recovery journey.  My services can include notetaking, explaining procedures or medical terms, asking questions for clarification and companion services if you do not want to sit alone while waiting for procedures or medical caretakers.  My coaches training helps with navigating emotionally charged situations and providing encouragement or goal setting as needed.

Please note I do not give medical advice, only interpretation.

The Divorce

Therapeutic Art &
Group Art Events

Group art events are light hearted paint parties, team building sessions or fundraisers using acrylic paints, watercolors, mixed media, drawing or journal making. I bring my mobile "Art Spa" to you with all supplies included.  A minumum of 5 persons is required to book these sessions.

Therapeutic art is for care groups such as cancer support groups or groups used in support of mental health wellness.  These sessions are tailored to fit the needs of a wellness center.  Flat fees are available.

I also provide individual therapeutic art or companionship to clients in care homes.  These art sessions are customized to meet the needs of the client such as those with dementia or tremors.  In this case more gestural artistic expression is encouraged through painting techniques requiring less motor skills or long term memory use.

Fine Art Instruction

I have 13 years of educator experience, 6 of those years were within a school setting with most of my experience in the elementary level teaching fine art.  I have 2 years of experience with High School teaching Art History, Fundamentals of Art, Life Skills and an after school art club.  Within elementary level I have taught grades K-8 using the 7 Elements of Art, introducing famous artists and movements throughout my curriculum.  In Middle School we extend the 7 Elements of Art to include the Principles of Design, also introducing famous artists, movements and the many ways that art is used in the working world.  For all levels I start with basic drawing using graphite pencils and charcoal and introduce colored pencils, watercolors and acrylics when we study the element of color.

Surgical Fashions

When I was an Operating Room nurse I would often scrub in to cases.  I soon found out that I was allergic to latex and that included the elastic in the surgical hats that were provided.  I began to make my own colorful and fun hats to wear while at work.  Soon all my coworkers also wanted fun and seasonal hats.  During the pandemic I sewed over 300 hats and masks for other departments and nurse friends as well as masks for my neighbors.  At the beginning of 2023 I became the owner and creator at Surgical Fashions,  offering 6 different styles of fabric hats and knitted hats for preemie babies to adults.  A small selection of knitted hats can be found on my Etsy store, but most of my knitting and quilting is donated to hospitals or friends.  What I sell on my store helps support the purchase of more yarn and fabric, and hopefully puts a smile on some faces.
